The Road to Getting Started is Expensive...

Ugh. Seriously.

Today I started my hunt for the ever elusive perfect Desk, Chair, Lights, and Storage bins. I need to get my room ready for video and I need somewhere to start filming.

Let me tell you where my journey began today...

As I looked around for a particular brush for my crease, I realized exactly how unorganized I am when it comes to my personal makeup. So I finished my makeup and brought my internet up and went straight to TheContainerStore.com to see if they had any particularily good deals or anything cute for my needs. Of course they did. They always have cute containers. The prices of some of the things that I need are just a little bit outlandish though. And as I dont feel like paying an arm, leg, and first born child for some storage, I decided maybe I should begin to look elsewhere and compare prices.

So I headed over to WalMart.com and started checking out their storage stuff. Nothing nearly as cute, that would match my room's purple color scheme though. Which is a bummer, but ultimately, I'll get over it. Anyways as I looked at the storage units, I realized that I needed a desk to do my makeup at. My bed is where I normally sit and do my makeup, but that wouldn't do for Youtube videos, now would it?

I figure I'm on WalMart.com anyways, might as well check out what they've got as far as cheap desks go. So I'm checking out their desks section only to discover that the desk I really want is $90.00 without tax and Shipping & Handling. Fail. Boat. Ugh. I mean it's not totally out of my price range at all! I'll just have to save up for it, and I'd get it by the end of the summer, hopefully. But if not, I do have a much cheaper, smaller [*sob*] alternative set up.

I realized then, that if I had a desk, I needed a chair. One with adjustable height preferably, but still small enugh to fit in this very tiny room and still have some walking space. So I looked around the site for a stool. Because it will save a little bit of space and a bit of money. I'm looking for a stool, either in Purple or Silver. The stool I found aactually has a bit of back support and it's only going to come out to about $50. So that's good. I was gonna go with like a "director's Chair" and be all cute and paint my screen name or something on the back of it. Buuut there's no purple or silver that I really like. Annnd they arent adjustable.

For those of you that don't know, I am quite short. Only 5'3". So I kind of need the chair to start short, and then adjust to the right height so I can actually be seen on the camera. XD

But anyways, I then realized that my overhead light... and my table lamp are both far too yellow and make me look Jaundiced! So I realized that not only do I need a desk, chair, and storage, but I also need a new desk lamp with a very white light. >.< This is all so frustrating and insaaanely expensive.

Everyone is telling me to go look around at IKEA... but I can't afford IKEA.

So all of this, leads me to right now, munching on some chips, drinking a soda, and surfing the web for the ultimate furniture deal... Frustratedly tugging on my hair and thinking "I just want to be a kid again... back in High School. Yup."

I think I'll be okay to hold off on Storage for a little while yet, so I'll just focus on my desk, light[s], and stool. Still going to cost me an arm, leg, and an ovary[potentially]. But whatttever. :) It'll be worth it.

All in the name of getting my name and face out on the market.

A collaboration of different subjects...

Right. So rather than spamming your notifications box[or Email Inbox. Whatever.] I figured I'd take care of allll of the things I want to talk about today, in one blog as opposed to like... three. LOL.

First things first! Happy Independence Day!! well... er... For those American readers. [sorry this is a day late]. Did y'all have a good day? I did! My family had a Grill Out and then I went to the lake front with a friend to watch the City Fireworks.

Now then. Since this is a beauty blog, I figured I should post my makeup from yesterday, as well as the awesome Manicure I gave myself. Let me know what you think of them.

My makeup for the day, and my very first LOTW[look of the week]:

Looking back at this look, I wish most of my red hadn't blended into the blue and turned purple. :[

I later added a red and white bandanna just to tie everything together.
I love how the red and blue played off of each other and my eyes through the day. There was one point where the red made my iris look like this intense ice blue color.
I didn't put anything on my lips, except for an SPF infused chap stick. Because happy lips are sunburn free lips. XD
What I used for this look:
Blue eyeshadow: The dark blue in Covergirl's Crystal Waters quad.
Red Eyeshadow: The darkest red in the Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette.
Highlight color: 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette.
Eyeliner: Maybeline's Eye Studio Gel Liner in Blackest Black
Mascara: Maybeline's Colossal Lash
Lip: Some random Chap stick.
Face: Hard Candy's SPF 15 Tinted moisturizer in Fair, set with Hard Candy's Welcome Matte, Mattifying powder.

Alright, now on with the Manicure of the week.
I've had issues with keeping up on my nails, so maybe by also doing a Mani of the week, I'll be able to keep up on taking care of my nails. Let's see if I can keep up. XD

It's unfortunate that the sparkle wouldn't pick up in the photo. It's just making it look like my polish is full of bubbles. >.<
What I used for this manicure:
Base and Top coat: Sally Hansen: Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat
Red: Sally Hansen: Diamond Strength in 89 Honeymoon Red
White: Kiss Nail Art Paint in White.
Blue: Kiss Nail Art Paint in Blue.
Sparkles: Silver craft Glitter.

Okay. So there are the "fill in the blank" of the week. Let me know what you guys think. I'm quite proud of the nails. Granted, it's a simple design that a five year old could figure out. But whatever. So long as it looks good, I'm happy. :)

Now for the completely unrelated:
I can't comment back to you guys when you comment on my Blog, as Blogger has the tendency to say I'm not signed in. So when I go to sign in, it says "anonymous said:" and then I'll be like "whatever." and just sign it at the bottom with my name, but that didnt work either. So from now on, I'll just post my responces to as many comments as I can in one blog. So!

Gabbi Di Mieu said: "Aww, I like your story... and I've always worn some odd makeup... Some of which I wish I hadn't. XD Oh well, I was pretty young."
To which I respond: Yeahhh I've worn some crazy crap. I look back at some of my older pictures and think "ohhhh goddd... what was I thinking?!" and then I'd like to go back in time and smack myself. XD

Anna Banana Said: "I would love to see a "Look of the week"... Makes it easier on you and gives me time in the week to be able to give it a try and see if it works for me... Just my two cents!"
To which I respond: LMAO! We have the same name! My name is Anna! :) So anyways, I took your two cents and have officially started a "look of the week". :) I hope you enjoy!

Thats all for today guys! Thanks for taking time out of your day to read my blog. <3

Deal or No Deal?

Ever been afraid that those "package deals" some cosmetics companies advertise really arent such a great deal after all?
"Buy these two products and get the third for free!!"
"Buy these two products together and you'll save $20!!"
"FREE shipping on all orders $50 and up!"
Sometimes it's not such a great deal and you could end up paying more or the same ammount you would have before the "Sale".

Companies are Ninjas like that some times. That's why you have to be a smart shopper and use your "Spidy Senses". When I run across one of these deals I whip out the good 'ol Claculator and do my math.

Assuming it's the "buy two get the third free" deal, I'll add up what the cost of three would be. Sometimes the price is the exact same as paying for three.

What the company did was they split the cost of the third product up between the two original products, making it seem like the third was free, when really, it wasn't.

They can also make it seem like you're getting free Shipping & Handling by doing the same thing. They'll add S&H into the price. You really are paying for S&H, you just don't know it.

Sometimes the Combo deals like "by these two together and you'll save $20" are a scam as well. What you do then is add together the two separate prices. Sometimes- Not all the time. You'll come out with a lower price than the package deal. Usually only by a couple of dollars. Then it's up to you to decide if it's worth it or not to just pay those extra couple of dollars.

Oh, another fun deal I ran across today was a Company threw alll of their products in one package, and charged $150 for it. That's not a deal at all, unless we're talking about Shipping rates. Most of their products are a dollar anyways and they have just over one hundred Makeup Products. Would I buy it? For the sake of Convenience. But just going off the reviews I've read, I really wouldn't bother using quite a lot of the products on a client, simply because that client will remember you not only by your personality and proffesionalism, but also by the makeup job. Did it last the day? Photograph well? Or did it melt off and wear away? I'd rather not be remembered for it all melting off and wearing away.

So long story short, is if you're suspicious about a sale, listen to your spidy senses when they tingle, do your math, and weigh the risks.

On a different note, I'm thinking about starting up a "Look of the Day" post every day... or every couple days. A lot of my favorite bloggers and beauty vloggers do it and I figured maybe I should take a note from their books and do it. So... I think I will. Let me know what y'all think. ^.^

Love,
Anna.

Makeup - It Isn't For the Feint of Heart.

Or atleast my style of makeup isn't.
When I first started doing makeup, I really had barely a clue that there were other colors out there in eyeshadow, aside from the browns and purples my mother and her friend had bought for me on my thirteenth birthday. I knew about Pink and Red lipstick. But I had no clue that other colors existed, really.

Fast Forward two years to High School. I've discovered black, Silver, and Gold. As I walked around Walgreens one day, picking up some eyeliner, I came across L'Oreal's H.I.P Brand... and ohhh my Godddd the color!!

[these pictures are not of L'Oreal's H.I.P. The purple is Hard Candy's Super Nova and the green is from the Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer palette.]

Ever since then I've been playing around with crazy color combos and experimenting with what colors and finishes look the best on me. So far Shimmer and Satin look the best, but I've never really had the oportunity to play around with Matte colors. I intend to change that because I find that Shimmers tend to make me look Greasey. We of the greasey skinned people try our hardest to avoid extra shine.

So I plan on buying two things very soon. I want to try one of MAC's full coverage Matte foundations- simply because, while I love my freckles, sometimes I just dont want to see them, and my concealer just doesnt cut it. The second thing I want to get, I've had the burning need for, since I got my first Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer palette. I need the Coastal Scents 88 Original palette. It has a mix of matte and satin finishes.

There's so much that I want from Coastal Scents. But I'll probably turn that into a completely separate blog.

Anyways, my particular brand of makeup is bright and dramatic, I believe that a formal look doesnt neccesarily have to be Neutral or Natural looking. Sure I'm not gonna throw on purple, green, and blue eyeshadow for my prom, but I think that any color eyeshadow can be dressed up to look formal. And that's what I intend to show the world.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to read my humble little baby Blog. ^_^
